The variety of services and products these companies represent is vast. Examples of these sectors can be seen in this issue of TREND weekly. Thetrade and business support activities we have undertaken at the Netherlands Embassy throughout this year include the strategic water management sector, waste management innovation, smart mobility and startups of various kinds.
The year 2016 will be marked by the Dutch and Slovak Presidency of the EU. In the run-up we have jointly formulated our priorities in many fields. Included in these areas is the creation of a digital single market, which – it is our firm belief – will help foster an even better investment climate for ‘start-ups’ in innovative industries, including web based products and services.
Smart mobility is an industry that both in Slovakia and in the Netherlands is likely to develop fast in the near future. Slovakia with its automotive industry and the Netherlands with its know-how in the field of electric transport and electronics are bound to reinforce one another’s impact. Further co-operation between the Netherlands and Slovakia could only enhance the R&D in both countries.
An area that deserves mentioning as well is tourism & culture. The Dutch experience in this field is renowned. The joint Slovak-Dutch Danubiana museum on its stunning location on the Danube River just south of Bratislava may serve as a strong example of how successful “culture as a business opportunity” can be!
