SLOVAKS MIGHT BE LEFT OUT OF HIGHER QUALITY LIVING

n 15 years some houses won’t meet the standards of satisfactory and ecological living. We will see many middle-class people looking for better-quality living. The question will be if they will be able to afford this, says Roland van Wijnen, head of the Slovak daughter company of Holcim, the cement concern. He claims that this year, Slovakia, as well as Poland and Czech Republic won’t stagnate. “I would be surprised,“ he says, “if that happened.“ The constructon industry could soar if the PPP highway construction projects get off the ground. Another factor will be whether people will keep building and reconstructing homes, although in this field van Wijnen is not expecting such growth as in the past. “Many of our clients are especially worried about this year’s second half,” he says.   I Pg. 32
