Processors of cars condemned to demolition will have their hands full of work and their heads full of problems. This year, because of the demolition fee, they will have up to 30,000 cars to destroy. And the figures say that they are making losses on every processed car. So they are thinking of asking the Recycling Fund for help. The 33 million-euro demolition fee program is supposed to help reverse the impact of the financial crisis. It is subsidized with a thousand euros or 1,500 in case the car dealer contributes 500 euros. According to the rules set by the government, every one who will have their old car destroyed and buy a new one, has the right to receive a demolition fee, but the new car can’t cost more than 25,000 euros. Jozef Uhrík, president of the Car Industry Union, confirms that they proposed this measure. In this way they want to help car manufacturers and vehicle component producers. “How would that be if Slovakia, the country with the highest number of produced cars per capita, did not participate in this effort within Europe,” he says. According to Prime Minister Robert Fico, the demolition fee is a good tool for the stimulation of domestic consumption and will contribute considerably to jumpstarting the automobile industry.  I Pg 35
